Inside the Church of the
Holy Sepulchre

Inside the basilica, chapels gather the moments of the Passion in close succession. Across generations they have been tended for prayer and still welcome personal intentions each day.

  • Calvary (Golgotha) - A chapel marks the hill of the Crucifixion. Pilgrims kneel beneath the altar and touch the exposed rock in silent prayer.
  • Stone of Anointing - According to tradition, this is where Jesus’ body was prepared for burial. Visitors often pause here to place intentions and light candles.
  • The Aedicule – Empty Tomb - A small chapel shelters the Tomb. Lines of pilgrims enter briefly to pray, leave intentions, and whisper the Easter proclamation: “He is risen.”
